Travin "Appleseed"

The kinder kids at Stockwell Place were busy little bees this past week learning all about Johnny Appleseed. Travin and I spent our week reading stories and poems about Johnny Appleseed. We counted apple slices and then graphed them before he decided that he wanted to eat them with peanut butter :) Thursday night Jason and I put together a special outfit for him to wear. The idea was to be CrEaTiVe. As you can see from the pictures we found things around the house to piece together his special “Travin Appleseed” outfit. The girls were a little jealous that Trav got to dress up in “regular” clothes instead of wearing a uniform to school :)

Friday was a very special day. I felt very fortunate to be able to be a part of this very eventful day. Travin’s teacher held a special breakfast for her class in the cafeteria. I helped his teacher serve the class a full breakfast. The kids were so surprised and excited to have a little bit of free time with their friends. I made my way around as they ate their breakfast and took lots of pictures (my goal is to get them posted on the class website next week).

After lunch, the six kindergarten classes spent their afternoon rotating between classes. Every class had a special apple activity for the students to work on. It was absolutely wonderful to watch the kids!! They were all so excited. It was the first time they truly had the opportunity to experience what being a kinder kid is all about. I honestly don’t think that Travin ever lost his smile on Friday. With everything that my son has been through over the past couple of months at school, it was so wonderful to be able to watch him have a great day at school. It was nice to see all of the kinder kids have a great day!

Stay tuned for more apple fun! Kalyssa has Johnny Appleseed activities lined up for next week :)
