Indian Pow Wow

I said that I would share Travin’s Pow Wow experience. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t as great as I would have hoped. I am so grateful that for the most part, my son is oblivious to what is going on. I think I need to add this to my list of things I am thankful for. At this point he doesn’t know any different. How sad is that?


Anyhow, I spent the whole day with Travin’s class. They all looked so cute dressed up as little Native American’s. I wish I could take credit for making his costume but I can’t. If it was up to me, Travin and I would have made his costume using one of daddy’s old white t-shirt’s. I would have let Trav take over with his creative ways. I spent the morning painting the kids faces. This was a special treat for them. I think this might have made their day. This was the only thing that set them apart from all of the other kindergarten classes. The other classes made their own costumes. They all made their own headdresses. They all made their own instruments. Call me crazy, but these are the things that make kindergarten so much fun. The teacher’s setup a little area outside complete with a teepee and different harvest props for the kids to perform Thanksgiving songs. Once again, the parents in room 13 had no idea what was going on. I am so glad that I brought my camera with me. The record button didn’t last long. As the kids started singing, I quickly noticed that Travin’s class was the only class that didn’t know any of the songs. The worst part was, having to watch the kids look around at the other classes trying to mimic what the rest of the kids were doing.

Needless to say, I don’t have very many pictures to share but I did want to share the few that I took. Trav and I left the school as soon as the performance was over. We came home and made hot chocolate with” shmarshmellows” and watched a movie together.

I did save the little bit of video I got of Travin’s class. I will be sharing this with the principal next week. Once again, I was speechless. I always have such high hopes but then things like this happen and I am left completely dumbfounded.
