Today is January 4th and I have written 4 different blogs! I promise you that I didn’t sign up to do the write a blog every day challenge. Although that would be quite the challenge, I really do have a life other than my computer =) If you read my post from yesterday, you know that I am currently experiencing the wonderful world of not sleeping. Midnight rolls around and I find myself tossing and turning. Reading hasn’t done anything for me and neither has the television. I’m guessing it’s probably because I usually tend to find the most emotionally unfit material out there. What can I say, I love the mushy stuff. Just ask my fellow blogger bestie Kris C. how much I absolutely LOVE Nicholas Sparks =) So the next best thing for me is to pick up my laptop, find a snug place in my big empty bed, and type my thoughts away.
Anyhow, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share an experience that I had with Bryanna. Can I just tell you how amazing this young lady is? I’m not quite sure who raised this child, but she has the most beautiful soul I have ever seen. She cares so much about people. She loves with all of her heart. She is extraordinary. I have never met anyone like her.
Yesterday, we finished up some projects that we are getting ready to ship out to Jason. We had a relatively quite night. Dinner and a movie, read some books, got our Daddy kisses, said our Daddy poem, and then said our nightly prayers, all before bed. Kalyssa and Trav were sound asleep when Bryanna made her way out into the living room. She asked me if we could talk. So we sat on the couch and she started asking me some questions. She wanted to know if I had anything special like they had. When I asked her what she meant, she said “well ever since Daddy left, you have been working on all kinds of stuff for us to help keep Daddy close to our hearts. Do you have anything for you?” I told her that I had the pillow that Daddy gave me and that I wear his wedding ring around my neck every day so that he stays close to my heart. She said "but Mommy that’s not enough." I explained to her that it was and that what was most important was for the three of them to have everything they needed. I told her that I carry Daddy in my heart and soul no matter what. She didn’t really have anything else to say so she said goodnight. I tucked her into bed or so I thought. About 20 minutes later, she came back out into the living room with a little book. She said "I made this just for you because I think that it’s important for you to have something that helps you get through these days while Daddy is away."
Every time I look through this book, my eyes fill with tears. They are not tears of sadness but tears of pride and joy. I have three remarkable children. Every day they come up to me with little gifts that they have colored or cut out. Today Travin made me an ice cream cone with a cherry on top because “we both love cherries mommy” and Kalyssa made me a butterfly that she drew and cut out herself because "I wanted you to have something pretty just like you.” I don’t know what I did in this life to be loved by these three beautiful children but I am so lucky that they picked me to be their mommy!
P.S. My goal is to not post anything else until Thursday’s session of Embrace the Camera. No promises, just a goal. =)

They all have your soul - that's why they are such a wonderful bunch of kids. I love how she made the hat look camouflaged!
ReplyDeleteYou are truley a blessed mommy. I have never been in your situation with a husband being gone for so long so I can't say that I understand. However you must be a strong and loving mommy to have such strong and loving little ones. I love how they are helping you as you are helping them get through this time. May the time go fast and you all be reunited together soon. May God Bless you ALL.
