{Coming Home}

I promised details and I always do my best to live up to my promises.

This past weekend has been absolutely A~M~A~Z~I~N~G!!! There is no way that I can express what it feels like to feel whole again. When Jason left, a huge part of me shut down. I didn’t realize how dark my world had become over the past 6 months. I didn’t realize just how empty I was until I felt his embrace for the first time. The moment I saw his silhouette peering through our front door, I knew that everything was okay. I knew that the life we created together was still here. Our beautiful family of 5 was whole and complete again and nothing in the world can compare to that moment. Nothing in the world feels better than knowing that your family is safe, secure, and together!

Preparing for Daddy’s homecoming was a task that kept two children busy while their sister was away at summer camp. We spent some time coming up with a plan and then put our plan into action.

~All you need is construction paper, glitter glue, paint, and some cute little hands~

Our plan got even bigger the closer we got to July 7th. Daddy’s homecoming was a pretty big deal so, we couldn’t let it pass us by without adding a few decorations in his honor =)

One very long delay ended up causing one mess of a snowball effect for Jason. The delay in Ireland caused him to miss his connection in Baltimore. After spending an entire day on the east coast, he ended up getting stuck further due to bad weather. The delay in Baltimore caused him to miss his connection in Dallas (which also happened to be the last flight into Shreveport for the night). I can’t tell you what exactly was said or how everything was planned. All I know is that I received a phone call before the flight left Baltimore explaining that he would see me soon because he wasn’t waiting any longer to see us. The decision was made, the phone call had been placed, and a car was being rented in Dallas.

Needless to say, we didn’t get to have the homecoming that we had anticipated but, we aren’t complaining AT ALL!! The kids got the surprise of a lifetime (if you missed the video you can watch it here), Jason was happy to be home, and me, well I finally had My Jay back in my arms! Enough said!!!

Our homecoming story isn’t over with just yet. We have a few more surprises waiting to be delivered. So, don’t stray too far because I promise that you won’t want to miss out on the rest of our homecoming fairy-tale reunion!
