Oh for the love of cupcakes!!
I know that its Thursday and “technically” I’m supposed to be dedicating today’s post to {embrace} the camera but...
I had to change things around a bit.
First, let me explain that I had complete intentions on posting some awesome pictures of me with my favorite first grader in the whole wide world as we painted pumpkins for the big Pumpkin Light Night school event that will be held next week. However, Mother Nature had other plans for us. Instead of posing for pictures with big cheesy grins on our faces, we were left bracing ourselves against gale force winds.
While Trav was doing his best to perfect his Picasso like talents on his great pumpkin, I was busy trying to keep paper, paint, and pumpkins from flying all over the place. I'm pretty sure that I lost the battle because I ended up walking away with more paint on myself than the kids painted on their pumpkins.
Needless to say, I only managed to capture a couple of pictures of Travin hard at work.
You will have to check back next week to see what exactly these crafty first graders are putting together as we get ready for the big Halloween event.
Moving onto cupcakes!

That’s me!
Yesterday I took on the challenge...
The challenge to run for cupcakes!
Hard stuff but someone has to do it...right?!?!
It actually was a bit harder than I expected. The weather was FREEZING cold outside and the wind was blowing like crazy. My quaint little community is full of hills. Let me just say that I am not a fan of hills as it is and having to tackle them while bone chilling wind is piercing its way through, doing its best to force me down made me hate them that much more. But I pushed my way through it all because after all, I didn’t spend hours on Pinterest finding the perfect recipe nor did I slave away making cupcakes just to look at them!!
Besides,
I had the perfect socks to keep my legs warm,
the perfect Bondi Band to keep my ears warm,
and the perfect gloves to keep my hands warm.
Here I am before my run
Here I am after
My final time for The Cupcake Classic
3.7 miles
in
31:17
My goal was to finish 3.7 miles in 30 minutes. I didn’t quite make it (dang wind) but I did give myself a little pat on the back for
- making it out the door when I could have very easily sat by the fireplace with a warm cup of coffee
- never stopping once even when Mother Nature tried her best to take my breath away (literally)
- finishing strong so that I could enjoy my cupcake
with my 3 favorite kids in the whole wide world!
I am very excited to read about how everyone else finishes and I am still holding hope for a pretty pink sparkly running skirt. To all of you who decided to join me (as I run with Jess) on this awesome race, I wish you lots of luck and don’t forget to smile! There is a yummy cupcake waiting for you at the finish line!!!

I am doing mine tomorrow, and I will post pix when I'm done. Great job!
