May is in full swing. If you were to ask Ms Bry, she would
be quick to answer that after today, there are only 11 school days left!!! Of
course she is pretty adamant that only 10 days apply to her. Didn’t you know
that the last day of school really doesn’t count? Therefore, she really doesn’t
need to be there! Hmm...guess we will see what the final verdict will be after
all of the evidence has been turned over.
With the anticipation of summer looming over their heads,
the kids had been patiently waiting for Field Day to arrive. Last week, I got
to spend the whole day enjoying the summer like humidity as Trav and Kalyssa competed
in a day full of different events.
Last year, I spent my time bouncing back and forth between
the front of the school, the back of the school, and the inside of the school
trying to keep up with a kindergartner and a 1st grader. When I found out that the kids would be on the same field on the same day, I was really excited.
I thought my day would be a little easier. HA HA I quickly learned that I would
end up having to do just as much walking if not more and guess what, Mom still
can’t be in two places at once.
Unfortunately, I ended up missing Kalyssa’s one and only
solo event for the day. She was not very happy that I missed her shooting a basketball. The look on her face was sheer disappointment =( Truly heartbreaking! I was
hoping to catch her doing a second solo event but she graciously gave up her
spot in the hula hoop competition to a friend who hadn’t had the chance to sign
up for an event.
Travin participated in two solo events. He did the football
toss and the jump rope races.
After a nice long cool lunch break in the classrooms, the
kids finished their afternoon by participating in team events.
I don’t exactly know the number of ribbons that were brought home that day but, I do know that the kids had a blast and the ice cream man provided the BEST treats. Needless to say, the day ended in a pure success!!!
