Embrace the Camera: December 16th

I almost didn't make today's session. After a few days of battling a really high fever and then breaking out in a really bad rash all over my body, I decided to take myself to Urgent Care. Long story short, I had blood drawn and my platelets were low. They decided to run other tests, gave me a few prescriptions, and sent me on my way. I returned the following day only to have the same information given to me. I received a phone call from my doctor after all of my paperwork had been faxed and she asked me to come in for more blood work. I dragged my tired self to the base doctor. Instead of having blood drawn, I went in and had a nice little chat with my doctor. Apparently, Urgent Care had everything WRONG! They diagnosed me wrong and prescribed potentially fatal medication. One of the pills they gave me is used to sedate mentally ill patients in a psychiatric ward. She wasn't sure how I was still standing with the dosage they were having me take. It turns out I had ITP (a very nasty viral rash that causes purple spots and also causes your platelets to drop). It is not fun and it is very painful. My doctor put me on new medication and put me in for a few follow up appointments to make sure my platelets go back up to normal. I am not 100% better but at least I can walk now which is a vast improvement from not being able to turn my head or even roll over in bed because of how much everything hurt.
Anyhow, I remembered that I had some pictures from last week that I wanted to share. Jason and I attended his squadron Christmas party. I can’t say it’s the best one we have been to but, I can’t say that it’s that worst either. Regardless of everything else, it was fun to have a night out with My Jay. We don’t get them very often so we make the most of whatever situation we happen to be put in.

I have so much to share. This is a very busy time of year and being under the weather has not helped at all. So, please don’t laugh if I bombard you with a few posts over the next week or so :-)

Now it's your turn to take a minute.....Go embrace a special moment with one of your favorite people.
