Just over a month ago, I committed myself to a reading challenge. I can’t say that I was thinking all that clearly when I clicked on the submit your name here button but, it sounded like a fun challenge and I thought hey why not?
The best part about this whole reading challenge, is being able to share it with my girls. They are so excited about their reading journey. They love to click onto our family blog page just to checkout their reading challenge tabs.
Last night we took a few minutes to log into our Goodreads accounts to update our reading information. The girls have been really good about keeping a list of each book they read. Every time they finish a book, they write down the title of the book and the date they finished reading it. We only enter their books online after they have tested on their books at school.
They both had to giggle last night when they realized that they are WAY ahead of mom on the reading challenge. =)
As of today our reading challenge standings are:
[S: 9%]
[B: 15%]
[K: 28%]
It looks like mom has a little bit of catching up to do. Of course my eldest daughter so tactfully pointed out to me last night that I have it easy because “you don’t even have to test on them like we do.”
Did I mention that I'm lovin’ the sassiness of a preteen smarty-pants?!?! =)

I am so super excited because jenni has started a book club that kicks off tommorow night!! I have a few comcerns though....... One, What book should I start out with?!?!! And two, I have not read avidly since I would rather lay on my bed with my nose in a book than go outside and play with my sisters and neighbors. So my question is, how can i find time (and motivation) to read as I used to? I am interested and excited about doing this and maybe my newfound book club will help me kick it up a notch but the initial start up has my mind going. If you have any ideas/advice for me in this adveture please share! I think it is awesome that you have the kids joining in on your challenge by the way! I hope you achieve above and beyond your goal!! Love you!
ReplyDeleteThe sassiness doesn't decrease as they get older? You're a so far ahead of me - I'm kind of counting on the 'too hot to go outside' month of July to help me catch up! Today I even considered reading one of Zach's Magic Tree House books and counting it!
