{Happy Blogoversary}

Over the past week, I have been browsing through bits and pieces of this, our family blog. I am in the process of piecing together our very first blog book. I had the chance to see one a while ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I knew then, that I wanted to make a book for my own kids to have.

As I made my way through a few posts, I decided to stop and go back to The Start of Something New. I was surprised to find that one year ago today, I decided to join the blogging community. How exciting, RIGHT?!?! This means that today is OUR 1 YEAR BLOGOVERSARY!! I bet you didn’t even know that such a word existed!

This blog started in a little house on Regulus Dr. in sunny Southern California. We lived on a Navy Base located in Ventura County. I remember sitting for hours trying to figure out how to navigate my way through different programs. I wanted to learn how to do everything! It was ridiculous but eventually I learned enough to at least make it appear as if I knew what I was doing. One year later, I am writing from our home in Northern Louisiana. We are back in Air Force country (well kinda sorta). We don’t live on base but we are surrounded by a pretty big military community. I still don’t know what I am doing half the time but I do my best to make it look as though I’m pretty smart =)

I started this blog because of our family and friends. I wanted to find a way to stay connected. We had been so fortunate to be able to share so many birthdays, holidays, and get-togethers. We shared so many milestones with so many of our loved ones for so many years. When I read my very first post, I simply had to smile. So many things have changed yet so much is still the same. One year ago we were getting ready to venture on a whole new journey. We were moving away from home for the first time in 8 years. Jason and I were about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of our lives. We had so much to look forward to and yet we felt like we were losing so much. One year later, we moved, we bought a house, and we slowly settled into a new life. We still miss so many things but we are enjoying our life here in Louisiana and we are excited about that many adventures that are waiting for us. It is truly amazing how much difference one year can make!!

Today, our family blog officially turns 1. I don’t have any fancy giveaways. Heck I don’t even have any not so fancy giveaways. I can’t say that I have any words of wisdom to share. However, I can say that the past year has been pretty great.

Writing a blog and keeping up with it can be quite an amusing challenge. There are times when my fingers can’t stop typing and other times when I can’t find the right words to share. Most of the time, I try to keep everything positive and light but, there are those moments when the irritated not so happy, not feeling very positive mama makes her way out and frankly, she just wants a little room to vent. Sometimes I wonder if a certain post shouldn’t go online and get trashed instead but then there are friendly reminders that it’s okay to just be me. I can’t say that I am one to just share a picture or two because I always have something to say and I can't seem to stop at just one picture. Wordless Wednesday probably wouldn’t work well for me =)

I have found inspiration and hope. I have found courage and strength. I have found a good laugh and even a good cry. In all of those times, I thank you.

One year and 141 posts later (I find this so funny because "I was only going to post once or twice a month), I can say that our family blog has literally become a part of me. I love that I can share a little part of our world with our loved ones but more than that, I love that I am creating something for my children. This blog has provided me with a place of comfort. For the past year, it has given me the chance to share so many things with the people I love the most. Along the way, I managed to find some new friends. I have been able to share things with them and in turn, I have been able to learn things about so many other people. It truly has been an amazing little journey, one that I never expected to experience.
