{Pumpkin Light Night 2011}

I know the that the anticipation has been eating at you =)

I mentioned a time or two about a special event that takes place at Travin and Kalyssa's school.

Pumpkin Light Night

finally

ARRIVED!!

Last year we walked around the track with our jaws hanging wide open. I was amazed at all of the hard word and creativity that was put into the pumpkins. This year, I did that same thing. I think this is by far one of my favorite school events!!

Here is a peek at some of the pumpkins that lined the school track.

I have to admit, last year we were a little lost when it came to Pumpkin Light Night. We weren’t quite sure what we were walking into but this year, was a whole different story!! This year I was able to help set-up the event. I must confess, my favorite part of the whole day was being able to walk down the halls pulling a wagon full of very creative pumpkins with a bunch of awfully cute second graders in tow. They had so much to share with me about their creations and luckily my listening ears were intact.

This year each grade was given a different mission. Some grades worked together to create a themed scene with their pumpkins while others worked individually.

We got to experience both. First grade worked together to create quite the patriotic masterpiece. Second grade worked individually on their pumpkins. Their mission was to write a book report and then create a character from their book made out of a pumpkin.

Remember these two pictures?

We hunted for the perfect pumpkins!

We searched for just the right book!

We rummaged through bins for the best accessories!

Somehow, we managed to get it ALL right!!!

Kalyssa decided to do her book report on
"Alice the Fairy" by David Shannon.

This is Alice in a book

This is Alice on a pumpkin

We know that we could never in a million years compare to the one and only very talented David Shannon. After all, he is pretty AMAZING!!! Kalyssa is almost positive that if he had entered a pumpkin into the contest, he would have won 1st place. However, I do have to mention that when we walked around the corner to view her pumpkin, she was the first one to spot a pretty orange ribbon pinned to side of her pumpkin's face!!!

Alice the Fairy created by Kalyssa Mall received an honorable mention award for individuality, creativity, and just plain cuteness!

 Pumpkin Light Night

A fun night full of family, friends, pumpkin gazing, a little bit of singing, and a whole lot of jumping.
