I'm too excited to sleep!!!! I read until my brain shut itself off, I tossed and turned, and eventually at 5:06 AM I gave up and decided to get out of bed.
My suitcase has been packed and repacked. Our tickets are printed and in my purse. All arrangements have been finalized. The children are set for the whole week that we will be gone (we even had to pick out what to wear and what to make for lunches). I have gone over my list at least a dozen times.
Today Jason and I will embark on our journey to the sunshine
state. I think I’m in a bit of shock that this day is actually here! I have
been planning this trip in my mind for over a year. I have been dreaming of
this run since I ran my first half marathon back in 2009. I have been working hard
for this moment for almost a year.
I am beyond excited to be able to attempt to take on not only one
but two of my “life list” goals but, I am also extremely sad that I can’t take
them on the way I had envisioned myself doing so.
I have so many emotions
fleeting through me. I’m nervous, excited, happy, terrified, anxious, worried,
and even a little apprehensive (thanks Papa for finding my 7th
dwarf). I have spent A LOT of time reflecting on my goals for this race. I was
forced to take a step back, take a deep breath, and reevaluate. So that is
exactly what I have done.
I scratched out all of my original goals and started fresh. It was not an easy thing to do. I will admit, I shed a few tears. I had big hopes for this event but then I read something
This is what I hope to accomplish as I set out to complete the “Goofiest” race
of the year with my most favorite Jay in the whole wide world!
Keep a 12 minute mile pace
Run in 5k increments
Take as many pictures as possible
Have the MOST fun I’ve ever had at any running event
Cross the finish line with the BIGGEST smile on my face
Walk away holding 3 medals in my right hand and My Jay's hand in my left hand
Wish us luck! Extra thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated! Thank You! Thank You! Oh and before I forget, if you would like to track us on our running journey, you can create an account by clicking here. You can receive tracking updates via email, text messages, Facebook, or Twitter.
Thank you for all of your support, encouragement, and thoughtful words and a very special THANK YOU to my mom and dad for not only supporting us every step of the way but for also taking on our roles as mom and dad to our 3 kids and our 1 "4-legged" kid and for taking care of our home. Lord knows it's not an easy job to undertake!
