Apparently love was in the air yesterday!!!
Remember that girl who skipped out the front door with a smile on her face? This was what I came
home to after an afternoon full of pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream.
Can you see the stars in her eyes?
Flowers, chocolates, and a date to the Mardi Gras dance on
Friday….OH MY!!!!
If you read my post yesterday then you might remember how I
mentioned that elementary school was “simple”. I don’t know about you but when
I think about Valentine’s Day with a 1st grader and a 2nd grader, I imagine kids walking around the classroom putting little cards and
candy or maybe pencils or play-doh inside their friends Valentine bags. I
imagine cute little faces full of excitement as they gently look for each individual Valentine to handout, being extremely careful not to
miss one single friend.
What I don’t see happening as I walk into the classroom carrying
a tray full of cupcakes, is immediately focusing on a single red rose that has
been specially wrapped in red and white tissue paper just for my 2nd grader!!! You can imagine my surprise when I looked around the classroom and
noticed that Miss Miss was the ONLY one who had a flower on her desk. Of course
she had to run up to me and share all of the details about her special
Valentines Day gift from one of the boys in her class. So very sweet but...2ND GRADE!!!! Middle school is hard enough!!! And people wonder why I have to make
my way down to the salon to have my hair colored!!!
I asked Travin last night at the dinner table if we were
going to have to start buying flowers for him to give out on Valentine’s Day
and he said “Ewe Mom that’s gross. I don’t want to give a girl a flower!” I
think I will hold onto that for as long as I possibly can!!!!
